JAD Corporation of America
In 1987, the JAD Corporation of America hired Robert Foschi, P.E. and Foschi Construction Corp. to design and construct its new headquarters situated on the shores of Flushing Bay, overlooking the LaGuardia Airport runways, in College Point, NY.
The foundations required driven wood piles to support reinforced concrete grade beams. The superstructure is steel-framed and clad in a brick facade. The ground floor warehouse and loading docks allowed for storage and delivery of JAD’s janitorial business products. The second floor offices, with abundant fenestration, offered employees and staff incredible views of the NYC Skyline and western sunsets across NYC. A massive barrel vault and translucent skylight introduced much-needed natural light into the interior of the office space. A ground-floor terrace along the Bay created a beautiful location for lunch and relaxation during the workday. This building won first place in 1988’s Queens Chamber of Commerce’s best office building competition.
